Full-Auto Operation
Taking perfect photos has never been easier. Just press the shutter-release button and let the Maxxum 3 handle the rest. It gives you true point-and-shoot simplicity by making all of the focus and exposure adjustments for you automatically.
Automatic Pop-Up Flash
The Maxxum 3 even fires the built-in flash automatically when the light's low, and minimizes red-eye effect so faces come through in full natural beauty. When using a D series lens, ADI* (Advanced Distance Integration) metering ensures proper flash exposures regardless of background or subject reflectance.
(*ADI flash metering works only with (D) lenses.)
Great Shots Always with Subject Program Selection
Shooting is easy with the five pre-programed shooting modes on the Maxxum 3. Select Portrait, Landscape, Close-Up, Sports Action, or Night Portrait, and then just press the shutter-release button. The Maxxum 3 does all the work, while you have all the fun.
Portrait Mode
Creates portraits with great emotional power. A large aperture is used to provide a shallow depth of focus. This captures the subject in sharp focus, while giving the background a softly textured effect.
Landscape Mode
When you want objects near and far in clear focus. The depth of field is enlarged, so that both a subject in the foreground and scenery in the background are captured in sharp detail.
Close-Up Mode
Lets you take dramatic close-ups of small items, such as individual flowers. This isolates the subject from the background, giving it a feeling of additional depth.
Sports Action Mode
The best choice for shooting a moving object. Uses super-fast continuous autofocus and high shutter speeds to "freeze" a subject and capture clear, sharp detail.
Night Portrait Mode
Adds greater expression to shots taken at night or with sunset backgrounds. It uses the flash and a longer exposure to reduce background darkness and capture a greater amount of detail.
IR Remote Control (Date model only)
The optional Infrared (IR) Remote Control RC-3 has immediate and 2-second delay settings, so you can shoot from up to 16 feet away without having to be connected to the camera by unsightly wires.
