Intelligent controls for greater levels of accuracy

High-precision 3-point wide AF
The wide autofocus area is composed of three local focus areas, and you can switch between wide focus area and spot focus point depending on the scene. A cross hair in the center lets you accurately determine subject distance regardless of surrounding contrast.

Greater control through Flex Focus Point (FFP)
With this feature, you can move the cross hair focus point to any position in the image area. This lets you achieve clear focus with subjects on the edge of the frame, or with a single subject within a group. Flex Focus Point provides extra accuracy when working with macro photography as well.

The focus point can be easily positioned
High-speed Autofocus
The cameras' high-speed AF system is based on the combination of an ultra-fast image processing LSI chip and a lightweight focusing component. The DiMAGE 7 & 5 are thus able to effectively track subject position with minimal focusing time.
Multi-segment exposure metering
Through the use of luminance patterns and AF information to calculate exposure, vivid and natural-looking images are captured with high exposure accuracy. The DiMAGE 7 features 300-segment metering, and the DiMAGE 5 has 256 segments. Both models additionally provide Center-weighted Average and Spot Metering.

Exposure control
The DiMAGE 7 & 5 offer an impressive degree of exposure control, thanks to a maximum shutter speed of 1/2000 second and the ability to take bulb-trigger shots for up to 30 seconds.
