The cameras' innovative LSI image processing chip has a high-speed 32-bit RISC CPU and is connected to large-capacity SDRAM. It is matched with a multitasking, real-time operating system to achieve rapid signal processing. Both cameras therefore provide a superior level of fast operation and high-quality imaging. Key benefits include fast start-up time, fast autofocus, and short shutter-release time lag. Unprecedented responsiveness is also supported by quick frame advance during playback, fast controls, and a short capturing interval.

The DiMAGE 7 & 5 come equipped with four different drive modes: continuous advance mode*, exposure bracketing mode, self-timer mode, and an interval recording mode.
* Not available when SUPER FINE or RAW modes are selected. |

This feature automatically produces a series of exposures with slight variations for you to choose from. Exposure bracketing is selectable from three values: 0.1, 0.5, and 0.3 EV. Contrast and color saturation can be bracketed with up to 7 steps, giving you even more variables to work with. |

Both cameras can be set to automatically adjust white balance to match prevailing lighting conditions. For added flexibility, there are four manual settings (daylight, tungsten, cloudy, fluorescent) as well as a custom setting that allows you to have control over calibration in a unique lighting situation. |

The DiMAGE 7 provides a split-screen monitor display that lets you check the effects of histogram adjustments applied to an image. Histogram can be instantly accessed by switching to Quick View during image playback. This information gives you an accurate idea of exposure conditions, thus contributing to more reliable shooting. |

By using the DiMAGE Image Viewer Utility, you can further modify images to just the way you want them. This software is compatible with images captured as RAW data (the Minolta-RAW format).
