2/3-type CCD with 5 megapixels
Featuring an advanced 2/3-type CCD at its core, the DiMAGE 7i delivers an effective resolution of 4.95 megapixels.* This lets you capture extremely detailed, data-rich images that can be turned into impressive enlargements with a desktop inkjet printer (approx. A3-size, 43.3 x 32.5 cm or 17 x 12.8 in.; 150dpi), or photo-quality A5-size prints from a dye-sublimation printer (6 x 9 in.; 300dpi). The CCD is equipped with a RGB primary color filter to provide optimum color fidelity.
* The CCD's total pixel count is 5.24 megapixels (2,658 x 1,970 pixels).
Premium Minolta GT Lens
To harness the power of the CCD to its fullest, the DiMAGE 7i features a high-grade Minolta GT Lens, an all-glass APO (apochromatic) zoom lens designed specifically for digital photography. The GT Lens offers 7X optical zoom and is refined enough for use with a 7 megapixel 2/3-type CCD. It has 16 elements in 13 groups, including 2 AD (anomalous dispersion) glass elements to suppress chromatic aberration and 2 aspheric elements to minimize distortion from the center of an image to its edges. These aspheric elements also help keep the camera compact.

Minolta CxProcess TM for clearer, brighter colors
Get images with clear, beautiful colors right away. Minolta's exclusive CxProcess image processing technology reflects, better than ever, the clarity of colors you witness at the time of image capture. It produces natural-looking images by optimizing vividness, color reproduction, tonal gradation, and noise.

Greater color detail from 12-bit A/D input
CxProcess works on color data supplied by 12-bit A/D conversion, which differentiates 4,096 hues in each color channel. This generates a color space of over 68 billion gradations, and results in a greater degree of detail in the highlight and shadow areas of your shots.
