The Digital Hyper Viewfinder gives you an extremely clear view of the scene thanks to its high resolution (equivalent to 220,000 pixels) and 100% field of view. Various data are displayed within the viewfinder, and you can also use it to confirm how exposure, saturation, and other factors have been adjusted before shooting.
As an aid to composition, particularly during macro imaging, it can be tilted up to 90 degrees. And a sensor detects when your eye is on the viewfinder, and temporarily shuts down the LCD monitor to conserve battery power.

About the eye sensor |

| The DiMAGE 7i features a high-contrast, precision TFT LCD monitor with several key benefits. It shows a live image with clear colors, offers smooth display of moving subjects, and has a wide field of view. |
 |
| Even in the dark... |
 |
| Both the LCD monitor and the Digital Hyper Viewfinder provide good visibility, automatically, because of the special color read-out system used by the camera's CCD. This makes it easy to check how your subject looks at any time. |

| Quick View lets you look at your shots while keeping the camera in Capture mode. You can zoom in on portions of the displayed image, check its histogram, or scroll through all the images stored on the CF card. And since you're still in Capture mode, you can return to shooting right away, without turning the control dial. |
|
 |
At any time prior to image capture, you can access the histogram of the live image displayed on the LCD monitor, or in the viewfinder and use this information to adjust exposure as desired.
Note: The real-time histogram function does not display the final histogram of shots taken with the flash. |

A choice of three selectable focusing screens gives you the same kind of flexibility as a SLR camera in framing your shots. There are standard AF frame, a matte field with grid, and a matte field with vertical and horizontal scales.

Controls dedicated to image capture and those used for playback are kept apart to promote intuitive operation. The four-way cross key is separated from the central button area, which makes it more responsive to your thumb. And the improved grip design enables you to get a stable, sure, and comfortable hold on the camera at all times. The DiMAGE 7i also has been shaped and textured to realize optimum user comfort.
