| Using DEC, you can tailor the look of your images by adjusting any of these four parameters prior to image capture: exposure, contrast, saturation, and colored filter. These adjustments can be checked through the viewfinder or on the LCD monitor. And, by using DEC in combination with Digital Enhancement Bracketing, you have the option to take multiple exposures and select the shot that best reflects your intended effect. Direct, through-the-camera image adjustment offers the benefit of minimizing degradations caused by PC-based image editing. |

The DiMAGE 7i comes with four different color modes: Vivid Color, Natural Color, Solarization, and Black & White. Many different effects can be achieved by using these modes together with the Digital Effects Control. For example, 11 types of monochrome images can be produced by selecting the DEC's colored filter effect with the camera set to Black & White.

Digital Subject Program Selection makes it easy to adjust exposure in different conditions. Just select from the available settings (portrait, sports, sunset, night portrait, and text), and the camera optimizes exposure for you. The effects of these adjustments can be checked on the viewfinder or LCD monitor prior to image capture. You can also add other adjustments made with the Digital Effects Control. |

| Automatic white balance is supplemented by four manual settings: daylight, tungsten, cloudy, and fluorescent. A custom setting is also included, giving you control over white balance calibration in unique lighting situations. |
 |
 |
| Automatic sensitivity gain ensures improved image quality in dark scenes or during flash shooting. Sensitivity can also be manually set from a selection of four ISO-equivalent values: 100, 200, 400, and 800. |

| RAW data, or 12-bit color data unprocessed by the camera, can be displayed or played back without image degradation. Using the DiMAGE Viewer, these images can be saved in either TIFF, JPEG, BMP (PICT) format. RAW mode images are ideal for use with other commercial image editing software, as they help keep degradation effects caused by editing to a minimum. |
