From the moment you grip the camera, Full-time AF goes into action. Autofocusing is as fast as 0.2 seconds, the fastest among 5.0-megapixel SLR-type digital cameras with a built-in lens system with 5x or optical zoom.* You'll be ready for your shot immediately. Full-time AF is available in either Single Shot AF mode or when Flex Focus Point and Continuous AF are used together.
* Focusing time with eye sensor ON. The fastest as of August 1, 2003, as determined using Minolta measurement standards.

High precision during Single Shot AF comes from a wide focusing area with 11-point coverage. Focusing areas are positioned to optimize portrait shooting: 7 areas aligned in the middle plus 3 areas above. This design increases the reliability of focus metering with different subjects and, as a result, gives you greater flexibility with shot composition. What's more, autofocusing is exceptionally fast. The DiMAGE A1 achieves its high level of autofocus performance by using a new subject detection algorithm, an improved stepping motor, and an ultra-fast CCD readout rate. |
