High-performance optical system with 16-element,13-group Lens construction
To achieve a compact, high-performance high-magnification zoom, the 1st to 4th components are moved to zoom and the 4th component is moved tochange the focus. In this optical sustem, since the focusing lens group (the 4th component) can be made very lightweight (lens weight about 1.1g), a Smooth, high-speed focusing mechanism is possible.
It is also possible to shoot from as close as 50 cm throughout the entire focal length range and you can do dynamic macro photography as close as 13cm by changing to the macro mode.
AD (anomalous dispersion) glass elements, and molded aspheric glass elements
Two special AD (anomalous dispersion) lenses in particular are used in the 1st component to compensate for chromatic aberration and produceimage without color blurring. Then, the 2nd and 3rd elements use molded aspheric glass elements to suppress curvilinear distortion so that high-quality is assured in all areas, from the center of the image to its edges. The aspheric elements also contribute to the compactness of the camera.

The lens of 28-200mm (35mm Equivalent) which covers almost all the photography domain.
And the lens which covers this range and has brightness F2.8-3.5 is a very highly efficient lens which does not exist in 35mminterchangeable lens, either.
