Maximum stability during handheld shooting
Konica Minolta's Anti-Shake system gives you a highly effective way to deal with camera shake—a major cause of substandard images, especially with telephoto shots and in dim lighting. The DiMAGE A1 is the world's first digital still camera featuring a CCD-shift mechanism to stabilize images. To turn on Anti-Shake you simply press a button, which then lights up to let you know that the function is on. Activation is immediate, thanks to a specialized integrated circuit. Anti-Shake is driven by an exclusive algorithm that offers stability over a wider range than conventional systems (up to 3 shutter speeds slower than the standard estimate for a scene,* depending on shooting conditions). The CCD-shift mechanism helps keep the camera compact.

* Shutter speed compensation: When you are shooting at 1/200 sec. shutter speed (with lens at tele angle), AS provides approx. 80% assurance of stable images at 1/25 sec. shutter speed.

High-quality continuous shooting
The Hi-Speed mode enables fast, high-quality continuous shooting at a capture rate of approx. 2.8 fps. Full-resolution images (2,560 x 1,920 pixels) can be captured in either RAW, TIFF, or JPEG format. With RAW, you can capture up to 5 images at once. With TIFF or JPEG, you can shoot up to 3 images in a single burst. JPEG capture has extra advantage of being ready for the next 3-shot burst in only 1.5 seconds. The camera's high-capacity 64MB SDRAM can store as many as 9 images (5.0 megapixels, Fine mode), ensuring effective use of buffer memory during continuous shooting. When Single Shot AF or Continuous AF is selected, capture rate is approx. 2.0 fps with the live view showing on the LCD monitor. This display provides a crystal clear view of the action.

Flex Focus Point (FFP)
With FFP, you can quickly move the focus point to any part of the frame you like. A great function for close-ups and portraits, particularly if it is used with spot metering. As you shift the focus point, spot metering moves along with it.

Direct Manual Focus (DMF)
Fine adjustments can be made even when autofocus is on. With the shutter release button half-pressed, DMF allows you to move the focus point as desired. This movement is performed with the focusing ring.

Selectable exposure metering
Three types of exposure metering are included to match varied lighting conditions. Choose from 300-segment metering, center-weighted average metering, or spot metering.

Real-time histogram display
In bright sunlight, it may not always be easy to determine the brightness levels within your image. But by checking the histogram of the live viewfinder or monitor image, you'll get a much better idea of how to adjust exposure.

Flex Digital Magnifier (FDM)
FDM lets you easily check manual focus adjustments by enlarging any part of the LCD monitor image. Two levels of magnification are available: 2x or 8x. You can also scroll in different directions while the monitor image is enlarged. FDM is especially useful for macro photography, and can be used with either manual focusing or Direct Manual Focus.
