Just as it does with still shots, the DiMAGE A2 puts plenty of features at your fingertips for movie recording. Your digital movies will be high-resolution (544 x 408 pixels), with smooth movement (30 fps) plus audio, and will look great when viewed on TV. As you record, you can make full use of the 7x optical zoom to get closer to the action, and also apply Anti-Shake to get a steady picture.

In Standard or Night Movie mode, movie clips can be up to 15 minutes long, complete with sound. Night Movie is ideal for low-light situations, as it brightens the picture to produce better images. A third mode allows you to specify intervals for time-lapse movies, so you can create dramatic movies of slowly changing scenes, such as a flower blooming. These time-lapse movies can be up to 240 frames long (playback is 4 fps, no audio).

VideoStudio lets you transfer movie clips to your PC and edit them together with ease. It includes dozens of filters and transition effects, and gives you the option to add still shots, titles, music, and narration. You can also change the speed of your clips to achieve fast-motion or slow-motion effects. Once you've completed your movie project, you can save it in a Video CD or Web-ready format to share with family and friends.
VideoStudio is compatible with Windows only.

The built-in 7x zoom lens offers tremendous versatility in a body that's easy to carry. Its unique 28mm wide-angle coverage is ideal for landscapes and architectural images. At the telephoto zoom end, you can capture stunning 8M images at 200 mm, and reach out even further with digital zoom for 2M imaging at 400 mm. Anti-Shake stabilizes images at telephoto ranges and when you zoom in dim lighting. There are also two optional converter lenses available. The 0.8x Wide-angle Converter ACW-100 broadens your wide-angle to 22 mm, and the 1.5x Telephoto Converter ACT-100 can be used to expand the optical zoom range to 300 mm.

Three metering modes are available. Multi-segment metering calculates exposure based on readings from 300 segments within the image, and can be relied on to handle scenes with backlighting or complex lighting. Or, if you want to take more control over exposure, you can choose center-weighted metering or spot metering. Center-weighted metering reads the entire image, but places emphasis on the central area. Spot metering, on the other hand, reads only within an area marked by a small circle. This small circle can be moved to other, non-central parts of the image when spot metering is used together with Flex Focus Point (FFP), an ideal combination for portraits and other scenes that require delicate exposure control.
