Advanced Shooting Made Easy

Quick, Precise Manual Zooming

We selected manual operation for the 7x optical zoom on the DiMAGE A200 to give you the exact angle of view you want, quickly and easily. When composing a shot, manual zooming lets you change framing much faster than a power zoom, for greater control. The single DiMAGE A200 lens lets you zoom from 28mm* wide angle to 200mm* telephoto, and up to 800mm* super-telephoto with the 4x digital zoom.

Easy-to-Access Control Buttons

The buttons used most often are set on the back of the camera where you can access them easily without looking away from the Vari-angle LCD monitor. A shift button provides operation shortcuts, and a function menu on the Vari-angle LCD monitor makes it easy to select the color mode and adjust digital effects as well as other settings. The 4x digital zoom can be activated for any focal length of the 7x optical zoom.

Flex Digital Magnifier (FDM) for Easier Manual Focusing

For greater precision when focusing manually or using the Direct Manual Focus function, you can enlarge and view any part of the monitor image. You can also scroll the enlarged part to any area with the controller. FDM is also linked to the focus ring operation, so the selected part is enlarged automatically and displayed as you turn the focus ring.

Digital Subject Program Selection

The DiMAGE A200 has four digital subject programs: Portrait, Sports action, Sunset, and Night Portrait. You can confirm the look of each setting on the LCD monitor or viewfinder prior to shooting. Alternatively, you can assign different functions to the digital subject program positions on the exprosure-mode dial if you wish to customize camera settings.

Portrait

Adjustments are made to obtain soft skin tones, and your subject is made prominent through a shallow depth of field.

Sunset

Red value is heightened to faithfully capture the scene.

Sports Action

Shutter speed is quickened to ensure that a moving subject stays in focus.

Night Portrait

Colors under artificial light are reproduced accurately, and slow-shutter sync is used during flash shooting.

Simultaneous Recording in RAW and JPEG (Fine) Formats

Now you can save images in both RAW and JPEG (Fine) formats at the same time. It's quick and easy because you don't have to change the settings for each format.

Compatible with Various Maxxum/Program Series Flashes

The automatic flash control of the DiMAGE 200 works with the Maxxum/Program Flash 5600HS(D), Maxxum/Program Flash 3600HS(D), Maxxum/Program Flash 2500(D), Macro Twin Flash 2400* and Macro Ring Flash 1200*. The Maxxum/Program Flash 5600HS(D) and Maxxum/Program Flash 3600HS(D) have a bounce flash head and wireless off-camera flash control. By adding the PC Flash Adapter PCT-100, you can also use other general-purpose flashes and studio flashes.

Macro Flash Controller is required.
*
When using the Twin Flash 2400 or the Macro Ring Flash 1200, vignetting may occur at focal lengths outside the tele-macro range.
