Creative Control

Extra-long Movie Recording Capability

You can record movies with sound as long as your memory card capacity allows. Use high-capacity memory for extra long recording time.

Macro Focusing As Close As 5 cm (2.0 inches)

Shoot flowers, accessories, or other small subjects full frame. At the wide end of the zoom range the Normal Macro mode lets you get as close as 5 cm (2.0 inches) from the subject. At telephoto you have Normal Macro mode focus as close as 50 cm (1.7 feet), and there's Super Macro for shots as close as 20 cm (7.9 inches).

Program AE Mode / Aperture Priority Mode

In the Program AE Mode the camera automatically determines the optimum aperture and shutter speed settings for each shot. In the Aperture Priority mode you set the aperture manually, and the camera sets the ideal shutter speed to match for optimum exposure. There's also a 4-way button for easy selection of the AF Fixed, AE Fixed, Exposure Compensation, or White Balance functions, giving you extra creative control.

Custom Setting

Create a set of custom settings including a total of 20 parameters when shooting in the manual mode. Custom settings can be memorized and deleted as required.

Slow Shutter Adjustment*

Slow shutter speed can be finely adjusted for each flash mode. This can be particularly effective when shooting evening or night scenes.

*
Only available in Program AE Mode.

Manual Exposure Mode With Noise Reduction

This mode lets you manually select shutter speeds from 15 ~ 1/1000 seconds*1, and gives you a choice of F2.8 or F4.7 aperture settings so you have extensive creative control. When shutter speeds slower than 1/2 second are selected noise reduction*2 is automatically activated, allowing you to shoot images with minimum noise even at slow shutter speeds.

*1
1/3 EV steps. Varies according to zoom ratio.
*2
Also applies to long exposures in Aperture Priority mode.

Auto-bracket Function

This function automatically produces 3 images for each shot you take, with " bracketed " (slight over and under variations) exposure and/or focus settings. Focus bracketing can be particularly valuable for macro shots where precise focus is critical.

Exposure Compensation Over a }2.0 Range

Exposure compensation is the ideal way to lighten or darken your scenes to match your creative mood. Exposure can be adjusted by +2.0EV ~ -2.0EV in 1/3-EV steps.

Fixed Focus

For moving or difficult-to-focus subjects, the focus can be fixed to infinity, 2.5 meters (8.3 feet), 1.2 meters (4.0 feet), or 0.8 meters (2.7 feet).
