Two macro modes enable you to capture stunning close-ups of flowers and other small objects. The Macro mode gets you as close as 5 cm (2 inches) for wide-angle shots or as close as 50 cm (19.7 inches) during telephoto shooting. Another mode, Super Macro, lets you put the front of the lens as close as 20 cm (7.9 inches) from your subject, even at telephoto position.

Five flash settings are available: auto, auto with red-eye reduction, fill-flash, fill-flash with red-eye reduction, and flash cancel. Each flash mode has its own range of selectable shutter speeds, which can be useful in various situations: for example, if you want to capture more of the background in a nighttime portrait.
Exposure compensation lets you brighten or darken the image within a range of ±2.0 Ev (in 1/3 Ev steps). Furthermore, if you don't want to take any chances, you can use auto exposure bracketing to produce three images for each shot: the main image plus slightly over and under exposed variations. There is also an auto bracketing function for focusing, which is ideal for macro images and other subjects that require precise focusing.
To better handle factors such as moving subjects, dim lighting or strong backlighting, you can fix the distance of focusing to one of four settings: 0.8 meters (2.6 feet), 1.2 meters (3.9 feet), 2.5 meters (8.2 feet), or infinity.
Three exposure modes are provided for flexibility. With Programmed AE, the camera automatically adjusts aperture and shutter speed settings. Aperture Priority AE allows you to change the aperture setting manually. And for further creative control, the Manual Mode gives you two aperture settings (F2.8 or F4.7)* and control over shutter speed from 1/1000 to 15 seconds. To ensure clearer results from long exposures, noise reduction is automatically activated if shutter speed is 1/2 second or longer.
In addition to the standard color mode, the DiMAGE G530 includes four other color modes: black & white, sepia, warm color, and cool color. This variety allows you to express feelings and change moods on any given shot. For example, the warm color mode can make a sunset look quite dramatic. Or, if you're shooting landscapes, try the cool color mode.
You can add some originality to your images by changing coloration: red, green, and blue can each be adjusted in five levels. And to give you even more creative freedom, the DiMAGE G530 comes with settings for flash output, saturation, contrast, and sharpness. A wide range of sensitivity settings (ISO 50, 100, 200, and 400) helps you avoid blurry images in dim conditions.
