AF and AE plus versatile functions

Names of camera parts
Get beautiful images with high-performance AF & AE, and use versatile functions to boost your creativity.
Minolta camera expertise helps you shoot accurately with ease. High-performance AF and AE make it simple to get optimum results. A variety of functions such as Digital Effects Control help you create your own images. And of course, features for very easy operation are also included.
High-Performance AF & AE
3-Point Wide AF Focus Area Selection
A high-performance feature found on the DiMAGE 7 and 5. The wide autofocus area is composed of three local focus areas, and you can switch between wide focus area and spot focus point depending on the scene. With the crosshair pointer in the center, subject distance is accurately determined. When you press the shutter release button halfway down, the focus will lock.

When you shoot while checking the focusing on the LCD monitor, you can choose from among five focusing points. This ensures that you avoid focusing errors with off-centered subjects.
Full-Time AF
This mode continually adjusts the focus, so you can be sure that the image you're watching on the LCD monitor is always in sharp focus. This is convenient for checking the framing of your shots.
Multi-Segment Metering
Accurate exposure control is ensured thanks to 256-segment metering. Images are characterized by fine reproduction of highlights, shadows and color. Spot-metering is also available.

Digital Effects Control Exposure Bracketing
Minolta wants you to be able to make the most of your creativity. So the DiMAGE S304 has a Digital Effects Control that lets you vary image characteristics and view the effect on the monitor before shooting. You can adjust contrast and color saturation from the menu and exposure compensation with an independent button. You can set the camera to automatically produce a series of exposures with slight variations (1.0 / 0.5 / 0.3Ev) when you press the shutter. Choose the one you like the best and erase the rest to save memory capacity.

Utility Software
image
The DiMAGE S304 provides the same type of software included in the DiMAGE 7 and 5 that lets you manipulate images to your liking by adjusting brightness, contrast, sharpness and more. Edited images can be saved in popular file formats such as JPEG or TIFF.
ArcSoft PhotoImpression Software Selectable Exposure Modes
This sophisticated camera even includes software for re-touching images. Using ArcSoft PhotoImpression, you can manipulate the photos you've taken to use them on printed materials like flyers or cards, or to e-mail them to friends. In the P-Mode, you can leave everything to the camera, so it automatically adjusts both exposure and shutter speed according to the scene. In the aperture priority A-Mode, you can finely vary the depth-of-field. And the M-Mode gives you the freedom to adjust both settings at will.
Slow Shutter Speed White Balance Control
imageThanks to the impressive degree of exposure control offered, you can take bulb-trigger shots for up to 15 seconds. Try it when shooting at night, for example. With the DiMAGE S304, the image noise that tends to occur at slow shutter speeds is effectively reduced. Whether you're indoors or out, the automatic setting lets you enjoy relaxed operation. Or, you can preset the control for four light sources: daylight, tungsten, fluorescent, or cloudy. For critical applications, a custom setting is also available.
Auto or Manual Sensitivity Control
In dark scenes or during flash shooting, the automatic sensitivity gain helps improve image quality. Sensitivity can also be manually set at four ISO-equivalent values (100/200/400/800).
