The 1/2.7-type CCD with 3.2 effective megapixels captures fine lines and intricate detail with tremendous accuracy. This level of detail also lends itself to photo-quality printouts as large as 17 x 13 cm (7 x 5 inches) at 300dpi printer resolution. For enlargements, you can create prints up to 35 x 26 cm (14 x 10 inches) at 150dpi. |

| To complement its high resolution, the CCD features a primary color filter, one of the key elements to impressive color quality. The filter sorts incoming light into red, green and blue, giving the camera the data it needs to generate vivid hues in your images. |

| At the heart of the DiMAGE Xi is its innovative optics, which uses a high-precision prism to bend light into the camera. Inside the camera, lens elements are stacked vertically. The system employs a high-quality Minolta lens to maximize the capability of the CCD. There are 9 elements in 8 groups, with a total of 5 aspherical surfaces to reduce chromatic aberration. Lens aperture widens to f2.8 for bright images. |

Natural colors, lifelike in the way they reflect the actual scene. That's what Minolta CxProcess is all about. By processing color data in a unique way, it produces a number of desirable characteristics: smooth gradations, natural skin tones, colors that are vivid but not too loud, and overall clarity.
The yellow portions of this graph offer an idea of how Minolta CxProcess works. Highlights are amplified for enhanced clarity, while an optimum balance is achieved among the other elevated values. |
