Creative Control - Achieve the Look You Have in Mind
Great in low-light conditions
A powerful built-in flash reaches as far as 6.1 meters (20 feet) during wide-angle shooting. Flash modes include auto, red-eye reduction, manual fill-flash, and slow sync. External flash units can be attached to the hot shoe, a feature you won't find with many compact digital cameras. Choose one of Konica Minolta's quick-charging flash units for indoor and nighttime events.
Flexible metering
To ensure optimum results in varied lighting, three types of metering are included: multi-segment, center-weighted, and spot metering.
Adjustable white balance
Get the right coloration with different light sources, or experiment with the appearance of your images. The seven settings are Auto, Daylight, Tungsten, Fluorescent, Cloudy, Flash, and Custom.
Manual focus
When you want more creative control over how your shot is focused, just switch from autofocusing to manual focus control.
Automatic Digital Subject Program Selection
Capture quality shots with ease. The DiMAGE Z1 can detect various types of scenes (such as Portraits, Sports action, Landscapes, Sunsets, and Night portrait / Night view) and automatically optimize settings for you.
PASM exposure modes
Program mode takes care of aperture and shutter speed for you, whereas Manual lets you adjust either factor as you please. Aperture-priority and Shutter-priority are also provided.
Customizable control keys
For added flexibility, the flash button can be customized to handle different settings. So instead of pushing this button to switch flash modes, you can use it to change the drive mode, white balance, focus mode, or color mode. That's a quicker and easier way to change a particular setting than going through menus on the LCD monitor.
Selectable color modes
Looking for a particular effect? Try changing color modes. The DiMAGE Z1 has four options to choose from.

Histogram display
The histogram of a captured image shows you right away how luminance is distributed in the image, so you can change settings if necessary to capture the shot you want.
Superb close-up images
Select either Macro mode or Super Macro mode. With Super Macro, you can bring the front of the lens as close as 4 cm (1.6 inches) from your subject.

Direct printer connection
PictBridge Printouts can be made easily, without going through a computer, by directly connecting the DiMAGE Z1 to a PictBridge*-compliant printer. You can check which image you want to print on the LCD monitor.

*PictBridge is an industry standard established by the Camera & Imaging Products Association (CIPA).
