Predictive Focus Control

Fast-moving subjects can be a problem for AF systems, especially when they are moving towards you. But Predictive Focus Control uses advanced technology to judge where your subject will be when the shutter is released and set focus accordingly, so you can capture sharper images of moving subjects.

Subject detection algorithm

Sometimes — for example when shooting a person standing in front of trees — the AF system focuses on the background rather than the subject, resulting in a bad shot. So DiMAGE Z3's AF system features a person-sensing algorithm to detect and fix focus firmly on your subject, assuring you of great results every time.

5-point Area AF

DiMAGE Z3's 5-point Area AF uses five partially-overlapping focus areas to more effectively discriminate between your subject and the background. This innovative system virtually eliminates the "perspective conflict" that can cause the camera to mistakenly focus on the background instead of your subject.
