Macro and Super Macro modes let you take stunningly beautiful close-up shots, enhanced by the superior quality of the GT Lens and 4 megapixel resolution. In Super Macro mode, you can get as close as 1 cm (0.4 inches) from your subject.

White balance adjustment

Seven settings, Auto, Daylight, Tungsten, Fluorescent, Cloudy, Flash, and Custom allow you to get the correct color with different light sources. Or you can experiment for more creative options.

Automatic Digital Subject Program Selection

An advanced algorithm automatically detects what kind of scene you're shooting — portrait, landscape, sports action, or sunset — and then optimizes exposure, shutter speed, white balance, and other settings to match the scene.

Four selectable color modes

Give your pictures a different mood with the four color modes. Choose from: natural, vivid, sepia, and black & white to match your image and creative vision. You can change color modes for your movies, too.

Adjustable sharpness and contrast

3-step adjustment allows you to alter sharpness and contrast to match your subject and get exactly the image you had in mind.

Noise reduction for better low-light results

Now you can capture clear, slow-shutter images of night scenes such as a cityscape after dark, thanks to DiMAGE Z3's advanced noise reduction circuitry. What's more, movies shot in dark conditions look better, too, due to a CCD four times as sensitive as conventional units.

The built-in flash delivers brilliant illumination, assuring you of successful photography in low-light situations even with the lens at its widest angle.

When you want to take full creative control of your shot, simply switch from autofocus to manual focus.

Real-time histogram display

This offers an easy way to check the overall brightness of a scene and adjust exposure if necessary to capture the image you want. It is especially useful on bright, sunny days and also with high-contrast subjects or scenes. Histograms of captured images can be checked as well.

Automatic LCD brightness adjustment

In low-light conditions, the LCD monitor automatically brightens to provide a clear, full-color view of your subject and help you compose your shot.

Metering options for accurate exposure

Three types of metering are included — multi segment, center weighted and spot metering — to help you achieve the best results in varying lighting conditions.
