Handles wide range of films: medium format (6x4.5, 6x6, 6x7, 6x8, 6x9), 35mm, Advanced Photo System, 16mm, TEM, and microfilm

In addition to 35mm film, the Dimâge Scan Multi II will accept the medium format (120/220) films that are popular among professional photographers, as well as Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), 16mm and Advanced Photo System films. This makes it ideal for a broad range of applications. For maximum convenience, three types of film holders (35mm, slide mount and medium format) are supplied with the scanner. And to further expand scanning capabilities, a Universal Holder is also available as an option to the Advanced Photo System film adapter.

Universal Holder handles even more film formats!
This new option adds significantly to the versatility of the Dimâge Scan Multi II. To achieve the proper setting of films in various formats, the new Universal Holder comes with masks that you can cut according to the film. This means that two more larger sizes of TEM film and microfilm can be scanned.

Max. 2,820 dpi Optical Resolution
Scanning to a high standard of image fidelity is essential for professional applications. The Dimâge Scan Multi II gives you the performance you need, reading 35mm, 16mm and Advanced Photo System film images with a maximum optical resolution of 2,820dpi. With sub-scanning lines read at higher density, medium (120/220) format films are read at max. 2,820dpi interpolation resolution. In addition, when you use the optional Universal Holder to scan these films, optical resolution of max. 2,820 dpi can be provided at the center of the film.

Digital ROC™ and
Digital GEM™ technologies

Digital ROC

Images are simulated.

The Dimâge Scan Multi II features new driver software with two new technologies that ensure you get the highest possible image quality.

Digital ROC™ (Reconstruction of Color) revives the image!
When scanning films with faded colors, this function automatically rebuilds the original colors by using a complex set of proprietary algorithms. Digital ROC™ works while the image is being scanned, so you dont have to use other image enhancement software to correct lost colors in advance.

Digital GEM™ (Grain Equalization & Management) enhances scanned images.
This function is highly desirable because film graininess cannot be removed by normal image-manipulation software. By analyzing the grain pattern of each film, Digital GEM™ digitally reduces the grain clutter or graininess from the scanned data of your photos. The result: sharper and clearer images.

Note: Software processing time will be significantly longer when Digital ROC™ and Digital GEM™ functions are used.

12-bit A/D conversion for image input

Image input is also an important factor in determining scan quality. The Dimâge Scan Multi II uses 12-bit input, meaning that the image has four times as many gradations as conventional 10-bit types, resulting in smoother, more faithful color rendition. Furthermore, in addition to conventional 24-bit output (8 bits per R/G/B), the utility software permits 48-bit output (16 bits per R/G/B) when saved in the TIFF file format. 48-bit output is available with the driver software utilities, TWAIN, and Photoshop Plug-in.
Max. 50 slides continuous scanning

An optional Slide Feeder makes it easy to scan large numbers of slides. It holds up to 50 mounted slides, which can be fed through automatically and Slides are collected one by one in a separate slide Carrier.* Scanning numerous slides - for presentations, for example - becomes an easy task. Dimâge Scan MultiII also allows continuous scanning of up to six frames of 35mm sleeves, up to four frames with mounted films, and up to 40 frames with Advanced Photo System film.

* When using slide mount with regular shape and 1 - 3mm (1/16 - 1/8 inch) thickness.

Slide Feeder (optional)
Wide 3.6 dynamic range
Dynamic range, or the ability to read optical density, is yet another vital scanner attribute. The wide dynamic range of 3.6 of the Dimâge Scan Multi ensures highly accurate scanning of the original image.
Fast scanning raises productivity
Scanning accuracy is important, but you don't want it to slow down your work. The Dimâge Scan MultiII is not only high quality, but fast as well – Minolta's original scanning IC optimizes scanning control, so that medium format films are scanned as quickly as 35mm films.

JOB function for simplified operation
Making the various settings for different scanning jobs is typically time-consuming and complicated. Minolta has changed all that with a new driver software that has approx. 670 settings preset for you in nine categories. You just choose the category, select your desired setting and press OK. You can even customize your own settings and store them on your hard disk.

Multi-Sample Scanning reduces image noise
If a scanner scans an image just once, random image noise is likely to occur. To reduce this noise, the Dimâge Scan Multi II can scan the image several times at high speed, analyzing the collected data. You can select the number of samples (2, 4, 8 or 16 times) or turn the function off.
Wide range of accessories
The Dimâge Scan Multi II offers a wide range of accessories to expand your scanning possibilities. The 35mm Film Holder accepts six frames of 35mm film, the Slide Mount Holder accepts four frame-mounted positives or negatives, and the Medium Format Film Holder has masks for different sizes, including those for 16mm and Advanced Photo System sleeve film. Another useful addition is the new Universal Holder, which comes complete with masks. Other available options include a Slide Feeder for up to 50 mounted slides and an Advanced Photo System Adapter.
