16-bit vs. 14-bit A/D conversion
Exceptionally detailed scans
Superior color reproduction
The DiMAGE Scan Multi PRO delivers sharp, highly detailed scans of various film formats at resolutions up to 4,800dpi. These data-rich images offer excellent results with large-format printing. A dual focus point lens system, the product of Minolta's expertise in high-precision optics, is included to enhance the performance of the 7,260-pixel 3-line color CCD.
Resolution & scan sizes
16-bit A/D conversion enables the scanner to differentiate 65,536 gradations in each of its RGB channels --- four times more than conventional 14-bit scanners. This leads to images with richer tonal variations, smoother gradations, and a greater amount of visible detail in shadow areas. In addition, the scanner's CCD, high signal-to-noise ratio, and low-noise circuitry all contribute to a wide 4.8 dynamic range for improved color fidelity.
Multi-sample scanning for clearer scans
The DiMAGE Scan Multi PRO ensures clearer, more natural images through multi-sample scanning. By taking 2, 4, 8, or 16 sample scans and then averaging the sample images, the scanner significantly reduces random noise from the completed scan.
Accurate color matching
Better scans from negatives
The upgraded DiMAGE Scan Multi PRO color matching system supports numerous color spaces, to promote uniform color reproduction across different monitors, operating systems, and image editing software. An improved negative-to-positive conversion gives you optimized color images from negative film sources. It works with negative films that vary by manufacturer, the type of scene photographed, or shooting conditions.

Images are simulated.
