The MAXXUM 7D is a marvel of modern technology that draws on more than a century of Konica Minolta expertise in advanced optics, photo processing, digital mini labs, light measuring, electronics, and precision measurement systems. Each element plays an important role in capturing and rendering the high resolution images that turn a split-second in time into a lasting photographic memory. It is Konica Minolta’s high level of technology integration that makes the MAXXUM 7D such a pleasure to use, and the images it produces such a joy to behold. From the camera’s 6.1-megapixel CCD to its advanced processing and optimization controls, the elements work together to assure truly breathtaking image quality.

A 6.1-megapixel (effective) CCD gathers the high resolution image data you need to produce professional-quality prints that are rich in fine detail. Equipped with a proprietary Konica Minolta optical low pass filter for optimum color and tonal balance, it offers low noise and a wide dynamic range for improved highlight and shadow detail.

An advanced image processor with three separate processing modules dramatically boosts image quality, data handling speed, and shooting response. Noise and signal interference are significantly reduced, and image quality is enhanced because the modules can perform complex processing tasks in parallel, allowing extremely sophisticated algorithms to be used without slowing performance. Designed specifically for the MAXXUM 7D, the new processor uses proprietary technologies to handle the vast amounts of image data generated at higher resolutions, and assures a shooting experience that is every bit as responsive as a film-type SLR camera.
Exclusive CxProcess III technology optimizes color saturation, edge sharpness, and highlight/shadow contrast to ensure that colors are rendered just as the human eye perceives them. It also suppresses noise during slow-shutter capture, and assures rich textural detail and spatial perspective for vivid yet natural reproduction of skin tones, clouds and other subjects with delicate surface textures.
The MAXXUM 7D is engineered to take full advantage of the advanced optical technologies incorporated into MAXXUM lenses. Aspherical optics, for example, reduce the spherical aberration that can degrade resolving power, particularly on large diameter lenses. Aspherical elements also allow lenses to be made lighter and more compact, and provide excellent contrast even at the largest aperture setting. AD (Anomalous Dispersion) glass also helps improve contrast, and is particularly effective in reducing the chromatic aberration that can occur with high-power telephoto and zoom lenses. Konica Minolta was also the first camera manufacturer to feature multi-coating on its lenses, and today this technology is used to reduce ghosting and flaring on a wide range of MAXXUM lenses.
3 color space mode selection offers a choice of Natural (sRGB) and Natural+ (sRGB), and AdobeRGB mode. The default Natural setting provides clear color and delicate textures, while Natural+ enhances both contrast and shadow. AdobeRGB offers a wider color gamut than sRGB.
Simultaneous RAW and JPEG data recording gives you much greater freedom in how you process your images. By saving the image in both formats, you can quickly display the JPEG version as a reference when you edit and process the RAW data for final output as a beautiful gallery-quality print suitable for framing and permanent display.
