How to use DiMAGE Viewer (for Macintosh OS X.x)

How to print on KONICA MINOLTA Inkjet photo paper by using the ICC-PROFILE


Available printers
Canon i9900,i990,i960
EPSON Stylus Photo 2100/2200, Stylus Photo R800
HP Deskjet 5850, Photosmart 8450

HOW TO USE

1. Download the ICC profile from KONICA MINOLTA web site, then drag and drop it to the following folder.

Library - ColorSync - Profiles


2. Start DiMAGE Viewer.

a) Select the folder which contains the image data, and load the image data.


b) Select "Color Preferences" from pull-down menu of DiMAGE Viewer.


3. Execute "Color Preferences".(e.g. Stylus Photo 2200)

a) Check "Color Matching On" box, and select an appropriate Color Space. (sRGB)
b) Check "Printer ICC Profile Name", and select an appropriate ICC profile.
-> Click "Load" button, then the folder which contains ICC profiles will open.
Select an appropriate ICC profile.
-> Click "OK" button.
-> Execute "size change " and "color correction", if necessary.


4. Select your printer.

-> Click "Printer Setup" button.


5. Set the printer driver.

a) Select your printer from "Page Setup" menu, and click "OK" button.


b) Select the media type and size, and set color management.
-> Click "Print" button.
As for details of the printer driver setting, please read "HOW TO SET UP PRINTER DRIVER".

HOW TO SET UP PRINTER DRIVER

For Canon i9900

-> Select "Quality & Media" from "Copies & Pages" pull-down menu.
-> Set Media Type to "Photo Paper Pro".
Note: If print quality is not enough, click "Detailed Quality" and select an appropriate setting.


-> Select "Color Options" from "Quality & Media" pull-down menu


-> Set "Color Correction" to "None".
-> Click "Print" button, then print starts.
Note: If a different item is selected at "Color Correction", duplicate color management is applied, causing significant color drift.
Note: Printer driver setting for other Canon printers are same as i9900.


For EPSON Stylus Photo 2100

-> Select "Print Settings" from "Copies & Pages" pull-down menu.
-> Select an appropriate Media Type. ("Premium Semigloss Photo Paper" or "Premium Glossy Photo Paper")
Note: If print quality is not enough, try other "Resolution" setting.


-> Select "Color Management" from "Print Settings" pull-down menu.


-> Check "No Color Adjustment".
-> Click "Print" button, then print starts.
Note: If a different item is selected at "Color Management", duplicate color management is applied, causing significant color drift.
Note: Printer driver setting for other Epson printers are same as Stylus Photo 2200.


For HP Deskjet 5850

-> Select "Paper Type/Quality" from "Copies & Pages" pull-down menu.
-> Select "Paper" tag, and set Paper Type to "HP Premium Plus Photo Paper, Glossy".
-> Set "Quality" to "Best".


-> Select "Digital Photo" tag, and choose "Digital Flash".
-> Check off the box of "Auto", and slide the bar to "off".


-> Select "Digital Photo" tag, and choose "Contrast Enhancement".
-> Check off the box of "Auto", and slide the bar to "off".
-> Click "Print" button, then print starts.
Note: Do not change other items.


or Hewlett Packard Photosmart 8450

-> Select "Paper Type/Quality" from "Copies & Pages" pull-down menu.
-> Select "Paper" tag, and set "Paper Type" to "HP Premium Plus Photo Paper".
-> Set "Quality" to "Best".
-> Set "Color" to "Application Managed Colors".


-> Select "Digital Photo" tag, and choose "Digital Flash".
-> Check off the box of "Auto", and slide the bar to "off".


-> Select " Contrast Enhancement " from " Digital Flash " pull-down menu.
-> Check off the box of "Auto", and slide the bar to "off".


-> Select " Smart Focus " from " Contrast Enhancement " pull-down menu.
-> Confirm the "Smart Focus" is turned off.


-> Select " Smoothing " from " Smart Focus " pull-down menu.
-> Check off the box of "Auto", and slide the bar to "off".


-> Select " Sharpness " from " Smoothing " pull-down menu.
-> Check off the box of "Auto", and slide the bar to "off".


-> Select " Red Eye Removal " from " Sharpness " pull-down menu.
-> Confirm the" Red Eye Removal " is turned off.
-> Click "Print" button, then print starts.
