Interactive Q&A

Question: Why are the incompatible flashes(old types) unusable? Is there any way to use it?
Answer: The camera performs automatic flash control by using reflecyted-light of pre-flash light.
Therefore flash control cannot be performed except the flashes compatible with the pre-flash function.
When using incompatible Minolta Dynax/Maxxum flashes, it always fires fully , it is necessary to set the flash at manual light and the
camera at M mode according to the aperture of the adequate object distance. Generally guide No. and aperture and object distance have
the following relation and adequate exposure is obtainable:
Camera sensitivity: ISO 100 Guide/ FNO.=object distance(m)
(Please refer to the instruction manual of Flash about the guide No.)
*Please set the camera sensitibity ISO 100,200, 400 and 800. (When setting at Auto, it is not suitable as the sensitibity changes.)
*When the camera sensibity is except ISO 100 , that is to say , ISO 200, ISO 400, ISO 800, use it according to the above relational formula
when narrowing down at 1EV, 2EV,3EV ( Click 3 dial is equivqlent to 1 EV).
Adjust the distance and aperture to get adequate exposure after taking trial photo as the above is only standard.(It is convenient to check by using the histogram function.)
The incompatible flashes except those of Maxxum/Dynax cannot be used . ( These flashes cannot fire.)
