Question: The camera connected to USB port is not recognized as a removable disk.
Answer: Please confirm the following points.
USB connection : Is the camera correctlly connected to a computer?
- When the USB cable is not firmly plugged into a computer, the connection may not be recognized.
- The camera is directly connected to the computer's USB port. USB hub may prevent the camera from operating properly.
- Make sure that the CompactFlash is surely loaded into the camera before the connection.
- If the computer has two or more USB ports, try other port.
Battery Capacity: Is there enough battery remaining in the camera?
- Low battery power may prevent the camera from operating properly. Use of AC adapter AC-1L/AC-2L is recommended.

For Windows Users:
Did you install the driver?
- Windows98/98SE requires the dedicated USB driver installed from the CD-ROM for DiMAGE S414.
- Confirm the condition in the device manager. (See instruction manual)

For Macintosh Users:
- Click the Extensions in the Apple menu to return to the OS default settings and confirm if the connection is recognized by the system.
