Interactive Q&A

Question: What autofocus mode does the Dynax/Maxxum 7D employ?
Answer: Single-shot AF, Continuous AF, Automatic AF can be selected.

Single-shot AF mode (AF-S): Focusing starts by pressing the shutter-release button partway down and fixes the focus when it is confirmed. This mode is mainly useful for a still subject.

Continuous AF mode (AF-C): Camera continues to focus on a moving subject even while the shutter-release button is pressed partway down. It is convenient to capture the moving subject.

Automatic AF (AF-A): Camera automatically detects the motion of the subject and selects appropriate AF mode; AF continuous for moving subject and AF single for still subject. The combination of this function, AF-S and AF-C can be changed in menu setting to the combination of AF-S and Direct manual focus (DMF).

Focus mode lever can switch to manual focus, and also, as well as Dynax/Maxxum 7, AF/MF contol button enables instantly switching to manual focus.
